It depends on what you keep. For a mixed collection held at one setting, 54°F (12°C) is the usual compromise — cool enough to age reds slowly, warm enough that whites are not shocked when you pour.

Every Maison Vinum cellar covers 41°F to 68°F (5°C to 20°C). On dual-zone and triple-zone models, each compartment covers that full range independently, so you are free to hold whites at 46°F and reds at 61°F, or age everything at 54°F.

A single-zone cellar holds one temperature throughout. It is the right choice if you are ageing a collection, because ageing happens at one temperature whether the bottle is red or white.

A dual-zone cellar has two independently controlled compartments, each with its own thermostat, so reds and whites are both ready to serve at the same moment. You pay for that in shelf space: the divider and the second evaporator take room that would otherwise hold bottles.

Three independently controlled compartments instead of two. It suits a cellar that has to do everything at once: one compartment holding bottles at a steady ageing temperature, one with reds ready to pour, one with whites and champagne ready to serve.

Counts are based on standard 750 ml Bordeaux bottles laid flat. Burgundy and Champagne bottles are wider, so a cellar filled with those holds slightly fewer. Each product page gives the figure for that model.

You can, and nothing will go wrong. But a wine cellar runs between 41°F and 68°F, which is warmer than most people want a beer or a soda, and the shelves are shaped to cradle bottles lying down rather than to hold cans upright.

If wine is the reason you are buying, the cellar will do that job properly and a few bottles of something else alongside will come to no harm.
