The short answer

We build the cellar, and we sell it to you

Most of what you can buy is either an appliance with a glass door, or a joinery project that starts with a builder. We sit in between on purpose: furniture-grade cabinets, engineered like refrigeration, sold straight off the line. No wholesaler, no showroom floor to pay for.

Direct from the factory

No distributor margin between the production line and your door.

53 models

Enough range that you choose the right size, not the nearest one.

Sealed compressor

Three years of cover on the part that actually fails.

Built to order

Assembled and tested for you. Nothing sits in a warehouse.

01What stops people buying a cellar at all

“It will hum in my kitchen.”

A cellar is heard when the compressor is badly mounted and the shelves pass the vibration on. Those are the two places it gets in, and the two we engineer against: sealed compressor mountings, and bottles resting on solid beech runners rather than wire racks.

It is also why we do not build thermoelectric cabinets. They are silent, and they cannot hold a cellar temperature in a warm room — they only cool 10 to 15 °C below ambient.

“It will look like an appliance.”

Heat leaves our cabinets at the base, through the front. The sides and the back can therefore sit flush against cabinetry, with no ventilation gap and no appliance surround.

Which means the same cabinet works built in or standing free, and in both cases it reads as furniture rather than as a machine someone found room for.

“It will not fit the space I have.”

Ten cabinet widths, from 12 to 49 inches. That is the point of carrying 53 models rather than a tidy dozen: you fit the opening you have instead of rebuilding it.

One rule before ordering — measure the opening, never the appliance. A cabinet 5 mm too wide is a cabinet that goes back on the truck.

02What stops people buying from a maison they have just met

“I have never heard of you.”

Fair. So judge the range rather than the name: 53 cabinets in production, from 8 compact models to wine walls holding several hundred bottles. That is not a drop-shipped catalogue, it is a production line.

Every unit is assembled, tested and inspected before it is released for shipping — not sampled, each one.

“It is heavy, and it ships by sea.”

It does, and that is the honest cost of building to order rather than holding stock. Delivery is by specialised carrier, by appointment, and you have tracking from the day the cabinet leaves the factory.

Inspect it before you sign. Any visible damage reported within 48 hours is ours to resolve, not yours.

“And if I change my mind?”

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery, unused and in the original packaging, with prior authorisation.

We will say the uncomfortable part out loud: on an item this size, return shipping is at your cost unless the cabinet is faulty, and it is not cheap. Which is exactly why we would rather you used the four questions, or wrote to us, before ordering.

03What stops people choosing this one rather than another

“Why not the $400 wine fridge?”

Because it cools, and cooling is not the hard part. Holding one temperature through a warm afternoon and a cold night is, and that is what separates a drinks fridge from a cellar.

Wine tolerates being kept slightly warm. It does not tolerate being moved up and down.

“Why not a custom built-in?”

If you are already rebuilding the kitchen, do that — cabinetry-matched joinery will always look more integrated than anything bought finished.

If you are not, a renovation is a strange way to buy a fridge. Ours arrives finished, plugs into a standard outlet, and goes in built-in or free without a trade.

How we compare

Between the appliance and the renovation

Most of the market sits at one of two extremes. Very little exists in between — that gap is where we build.
